EMILY BLUMBERG

Senior at the University of Michigan

Hi! My name is Emily and I am a senior at the University of Michigan majoring in Communications & Creative Writing. This website serves as a hub for my personal and professional work as a writer, constantly being updated to reflect my current endeavors.

Currently, I am a Marketing and Media Assistant at the Graham Sustainability Institute, the University of Michigan's interdisciplinary climate research center. Combining my passions for both sustainability and writing, I produce editorial and social content highlighting the successes of Graham's research and leadership programming.

This past summer, I had the privilege of participating in the Paley Center for Media's prestigious Peter Roth Internship Program, a hands-on educational experience aiming to inspire and inform the next generation of television and media storytellers.

In the fall of 2022, I was a News Intern at NPR's Michigan Radio, where I produced audio and digital news segments on Michigan state and local affairs.

In the summer of 2022, I was as a Communications Intern at Homes for the Homeless, a NYC-based nonprofit working to combat family homelessness and provide families with the educational and financial resources they need.

Additionally, I am involved with my student newspaper, The Michigan Daily. As a news reporter and a writer for the weekly magazine, The Statement, I am passionate about uncovering the larger truths and social forces driving the development of the campus and Ann Arbor communities.

Above all, I am a fervent believer in writing as a mechanism for empathy, telling the stories and uplifting the voices that often go unheard in a chaotic, busy world.
