Marketing/Communications
In the summer of 2022, I had the opportunity to serve as a Communications Intern at Homes for the Homeless (HFH), a homeless services and shelter provider based in New York City. In working with the communications team, I have broadened my own media literacy and expertise within an organization dedicated to kindness and compassion. Among numerous journalistic responsibilities, one of my main tasks was producing news articles for the HFH website and social media.

Currently, I work with the Graham Sustainability Institute, the University of Michigan's interdisciplinary environmental research hub, as a Marketing and Media Assistant. In this role, I produce and manage editorial and social content promoting research findings and sustainable leadership opportunities.
HFH:
"Under the guidance of Recreation Coordinator Francina Smith, a group of five middle school and high school students in Saratoga’s afterschool rec program had the opportunity to explore poetry as a form of self-expression. To celebrate Poetry Month in April 2022, these students studied famous poets, including Nikki Giovanni and Ntozake Shange, and created beautiful poems of their own."
"The creative staff at Allie’s Place Family Residence hosted a book fair to promote reading and literacy among the residents. In anticipation of the school year ending, Afterschool Manager David Belmar and Daycare Helper Martha Munoz stepped up to ensure that families had access to an array of educational and recreational books throughout the summer."
"The “Saratoga Silly Project,” a collection of ceramics, claymation, and animation, will be displayed in an interactive gallery at Saratoga Family Residence.
The project features clay sculpture characters based on children at Saratoga sculpted by Beverly George, a recreation coordinator in the afterschool program."
"Earlier this month, the creativity of Saratoga Family Residence’s afterschool students took center stage at the Worldwide Plays Festival in Bryant Park. The festival was produced by Writopia, a non-profit that offers creative writing workshops for children ages 2-18. "
"Shaun entered Allie’s Place looking for “a new outlook on the culinary experience” as well as improvement in his culinary skills. During his time in the program, Shaun learned the ins and outs of proper food preparation and safety—both valuable skills when seeking a job in the food industry."
"In preparation for a fun-filled summer at HFH Summer Camps, a volunteer group of staff members headed up to Camp Wakonda in Harriman State Park to plant a garden of flowers, herbs, and vegetables. As part of what is fast-becoming an annual tradition—“Camp Cleanup Day”—team members from across the organization spent the day planting the seeds for an enriching summer."
"For Camp Administrator Tyrone Squire, camp has “always been in his heart.” Since starting with HFH in 2015, Tyrone has translated his positive camp experiences into his career. After working in various roles at other nonprofit organizations, he rejoined HFH in 2022 to jumpstart the return to camp after Covid-19 put a pause on the last two summers."
GRAHAM:
"Each year, the Graham Sustainability Institute hosts a cohort of graduate students for the competitive Dow Sustainability Fellows Program. Through experiential, collaborative projects with partners around the world, Dow Fellows tackle a wide range of sustainability challenges head-on.
On Saturday, December 2, 2023, the seven teams comprising the 2023 cohort gathered in Palmer Commons to present their findings on solar energy, efficient housing, decarbonization funding access, and more."
